"We have to bring our own crack?!"

This past weekend was a pretty big deal. First of all, I officially finished with Bassett on Friday, thus marking my first weekend of freedom. The plan was to leave from work and head to Lawrenceville for a fun-filled weekend celebrating Brittney O's birthday! Well, mother nature had other plans. As I left work at 8pm, I knew there were storms just coming into the area. I probably had enough gas to get to Tiffany's (Britt's sister) but I didn't want to chance it in the weather so I stopped for a few gallons of overly priced gas. Should've kept going....as I pulled out of the gas station, not even a mile from my work, it began to rain. The rain got heavy quickly. Then became a torrential downpour. Then it started sounding funny. That's when I realized it was hail. At least dime size, some the size of a quarter. I couldn't see a thing but I couldn't stop either. I was so afraid that my windshield was going to be shattered that I considered putting on sunglasses to protect my eyes, but considering I couldn't see a foot in front of my car, I thought it not the best idea. I called Jennifer to let her know I was just going to come to the apartment until it calmed down and that's when she informed me that we were under a tornado warning and that I was right in the worst of it. Awesome. I wanted to drive as fast as I could but that wasn't an option so I slowly made it to her apartment. I ran inside, looking like a drowned rat, and waited for the storm to pass. Eventually I was able to leave and make it to Tiffany's in once piece. And that's how my weekend started, driving through hail storms and tornados.

Saturday morning we woke up to clear blue skies, warm air, and a nice breeze. Crazy spring weather. We had lunch and then once Cassie and Alison made it into town, we were off to visit the wildlife at Yellow River Game Ranch! We fed the deer, bunnies, goats, pigs, bears (BEARS!), mountain lions, donkeys, buffalo and everything else you can imagine. It was a good time and the weather couldn't have been more perfect for it.

My favorite picture of the whole day.

The best thing that happened all day.

The birthday girl!

Funny story, I was petting this rabbit...

when this kid crawled into the picture. Hilarious.

After getting home and cleaning up and changing, we headed out to dinner!

The whole gang!

And Sam met us there too!

After dinner and drinks, we thought it'd be a good idea to hit up the local fair. Key word being after dinner. We rode one ride where Alison yelled, "I HATE THIS" and I yelled, "IS IT OVER?!" the entire time. And then we were ready to go home and go to bed at 10:30. I think it's safe to say that we're getting too old for such shinnanigans : p

Scariest. Ride. Ever.

Sunday morning it was back to Carrollton for Cassie and Alison while I stayed behind to go to Tiffany's shower for baby Ellie! Cutest. Pregnant. Girl. Ever. And after waiting so long for her, I couldn't me more excited for Tiffany and Heath. Oh, and did I mention that their family is part Jamaican? How about the GIANT tub of fried rice that their grandma made? Not to mention the other food there. And the CAKE. OMG, I die. Anyway, it was a good time and I can't wait for baby E to make her appearance in June!

She throws a mean baby shower!

All around it was a great weekend. I am so looking forward to having my weekends back. And my sanity. Last night was the first Monday night in eight months that I haven't had to pack a suitcase. And it felt so good. Although today I kept feeling like I had forgotten something because I didn't have to load my car up this morning.

And as if that weekend wasn't packed with enough fun to last a while, this weekend is looking pretty promising too :)
